The H4PERION project — Hydrogen FOR Performance Enhancement and Reliable ICE OperatioN — officially launched with its kick-off meeting in Vaasa, Finland, on 15–16 June 2026.
Hosted by the University of Vaasa, the two-day meeting brought the consortium together to establish a common understanding of the project’s objectives, management structure, work plan and upcoming activities.
The programme included discussions on project coordination, data management and the planned activities across all seven work packages. Partners also visited the Wärtsilä Sustainable Technology Hub and the University of Vaasa Energy Lab, gaining valuable insight into the facilities and expertise supporting the project’s technical work.
Over the next four years, H4PERION will develop and demonstrate innovative technologies for marine engines operating on hydrogen and biomethane blends, supported by novel fuel-supply and blending systems and exhaust-gas aftertreatment solutions.
A warm thank you to the University of Vaasa for hosting the meeting and to all partners for their active participation, valuable contributions and strong commitment as we begin this shared journey.
The H4PERION website is coming soon. Stay connected for the latest project news, technological developments and upcoming activities!
